Our capacitive sensors of the AWC series can do just about anything because they were specially designed for this purpose. The measurement method also indicates that the sensor works without problems over the long term.
You won’t find any wear parts or moving parts in this system. Consequently, maintenance work is reduced to a minimum.
The measuring frame is installed either horizontally or vertically in the production line, the installation position is therefore arbitrary. Nevertheless, accessibility to the internally installed components is ensured at all times and the assembly of the complete frame is carried out in the simplest way due to its low weight.
Neither dirt nor other external influences, such as extraneous light, have any effect on the measurement result. Moreover, regular calibration work on the system is not necessary.
Measuring system AWC
The compact pre-installed aluminium frame fits into almost any niche due to its width of 200 mm. It is used in our strip center controls, but can also be operated independently as a measuring system.
The strip is guided centrally through our O-frame. The distance between the measuring frame and the strip is up to 250 mm. Four different lengths of the measuring frame as well as three different measuring distances are available as standard solutions.
An electric field builds up between the two opposing electrodes, which are securely housed in our aluminium frame for each strip edge. Consequently, an electrical flow takes place across the strip when a strip is placed between the electrodes. The position of the strip is thus precisely determined.
The measuring method guarantees stable measured values, as external influences such as light sources, dirt, passline fluctuations or edge waves cannot affect the system.
A complete strip center control system is available when combining the AWC sensor with our MGC1000 or SGA3000 control unit and hydraulic or electromechanical actuators.
