Our capacitive sensors of the AWC series can do just about anything – that’s what they were designed for, and that’s also reflected in the measuring method:

Measuring system AWC
The compact pre-installed aluminium frame with its width of 200 mm fits into almost any niche. It is used in our strip centre controls, but can also be operated independently as a measuring system.
The strip is guided through the centre of our O-frame. The distance between the measuring frame and the strip is up to 250 mm. The smallest design requires a distance of only 250 mm above and below the strip.
An electrical field is established between the two opposing electrodes, which are safely housed in our aluminium frame for each strip edge. When a strip is placed between the electrodes, an electrical flow takes place across the strip and the position of the strip can be detected.
The measuring method guarantees stable measured values, as external influences such as light sources, dirt, passline fluctuations or edge waves cannot harm the system.
If you combine the AWC sensor with our control unit MGC1000 or SGA3000 and hydraulic or electromechanical actuators, a complete strip centre control system is available.
